How did you come to NBC? By Jeep, longboard or beach cruiser. I was part of the original launch team for the church in 2006.

What is your role at NBC? Lead Pastor

What is the best part about your role? Hard to say what is best as there are a lot of great parts...I really enjoy being in such close proximity to so many 'God movements' in the lives of so many different people. Mentoring and releasing a new generation of fired up leaders is pretty incredible too.

What is your favorite Bible passage? Why?

Passage: Galatians 6:7-9 "Do not be deceived: God is not mocked, for whatever one sows, that will he also reap. For the one who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption, but the one who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life. And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up."   Such a great passage that touches on some really big themes. Teaches a high view of God; that God causes the growth; that what I'm doing today will bear some kind of fruit later; that partnering with God like a hard working farmer is great gain; that perseverance is a must.

Chapter: Romans 8 and Romans 12. If I could only have 2 pages of the Bible to own...I'd pick these.

Book: Psalms poetry that speaks to and invites God into all the many highs and lows of this life.

Which Bible character do you identify the most with? Why? David...why? Well let's see...we have the same name, God chose to use him while he was obscure and seemingly unqualified, he had brothers, he was "ruddy", he liked to play music, he loved God, he was fallible, he had some sweet dance moves, liked to camp and be outdoors, he had close intimate allies, loved adventure, trusted God for huge things, liked to shoot things with assorted weaponry and when those weren't available he used his bare hands...just to name a few.

If you were an animal, what would you be? Why? Otter

What is your favorite coffee drink? Latte or regular Joe

What is your favorite place on the earth? Wherever my family is...unless they are in Cleveland but especially if they are in Kauai, Monterey, Santa Cruz or Yosemite.

What makes you laugh? My wife is really funny and my kids keep me laughing unless they are making me cry.

What makes you cry? See the previous answer. But actually...I'm truly saddened by peoples hardness to the love of God, including when it's present in me. Anything that destroys the family. Orphanage beds that still have kids in them.

What is your favorite television show? Why? San Jose Sharks hockey, Cowboys football, Giants baseball in October, Spurs basketball, historical documentaries, Mavericks Surf comp, Man vs. Wild, Ironman Triathlon. Why? Well it's far more comfortable to watch others exert that much energy and get the stuffing pounded out of them from my chair and because I really like watching sports.

What is your favorite pastime? Hanging w/ my wife, raising my kids, cycling, snowboarding, playing guitar, wake-boarding, reading, surfing, drinking coffee, laughing, camping, exploring...all at the same time.
