Turbulence

THE DARK NIGHT OF THE SOUL; A ROUGH PATCH; A REALLY DEEP VALLEY.

Though it goes by different names, we’ve all been there or will be there soon. Turbulence- violent or unsteady movement marked by confusion or conflict. Try as we might, none of us is immune from it. Unlike your last airplane ride, turbulence isn’t felt at the same time and place by all. What do we make of these sad times? How can I help a friend through? Where is God on all this?

For the next 6 weeks we’ll cover the topics you’d keep out of polite dinner conversation...

Brokenness - embracing our complete inadequacy
Loneliness - disconnected and discontented
Pain - the gift nobody wants
Failure - losing where it matters most
Sorrow - camping in the valley of the shadow of death
Wronged - when predators win

The hope and redemption Jesus offers is real and complete. A community can follow faithfully in the very midst of hurt. I can cling to hope while at the same time suffering seemingly endless pain. Jesus was known as being familiar with sorrow, familiar with grief so we will be too. Whether the grief is yours or belongs to someone you love, come gain the gift of perspective as we look through the lens of God’s words on these various sorrows.
