All From A Peanut | Todo Por Un Cacahuate
“Lord, what’s in this peanut?” Those were the words of George Washington Carver, a British scientist who was born in 1864 and who was looking for an answer from God while holding a peanut in his hands. In his heart he felt that God answered him: you are smart, find out for yourself.
And that is precisely what he did. From the peanut he got to extract more than 300 products. Many of them were foods, such as oil, flour, and cheese, and many others were industrial, such as dyes, soaps, and plastics. Not satisfied with that, he extracted about 100 products from potatoes, such as glue and synthetic rubber, and from soybean oil he obtained paints, with which he painted several highly recognized and award-winning paintings.
But how long did it take for this African-born scientist to make all these discoveries inspired by a simple peanut? Many, many years, accompanied by suffering and failure, but above all by persistence. It seems that this is one of the characteristics that God loves most in our life. Persistence.
“Better a patient person than a warrior, one with self-control than one who takes a city.” Proverbs 16:32 NIV
God does not look for perfect people; God perfects the one He seeks. But to achieve our goals, God wants our effort, our interest in achieving it. He does not behave like a genie who fulfills wishes without the slightest effort. Rather, He guides us and illuminates the way to reach our goals.
“I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” John 8:12 ESV
The Bible shows great victories achieved by the children of God. But all of these achievements required for them to be persistent rather than courageous. Caleb waited 45 years to receive the land that had been promised to him. The people of Israel took 40 years to reach the promised land. An entire army had to wait seven days for the walls of Jericho to be demolished. And what about Abraham, who turned 99 before he became a father?
Fight for your dreams, do not give up in the face of adversity, do not be defeated, because God will give you victory. Of course, always under obedience to our Father in heaven. Because His promise says so.
James 1:25 says “But the one who looks into the perfect law, the law of liberty, and perseveres, being no hearer who forgets but a doer who acts, he will be blessed in his doing.”
And I will stop now because my wife is making me a delicious peanut butter sandwich.

Esas fueron las palabras de George Washington Carver un científico británico que nació en 1864 y que buscaba una respuesta de Dios, mientras sostenía en sus manos un cacahuate. En su corazón sintió que Dios le respondió: Tienes inteligencia, descúbrelo tú mismo.
Y eso precisamente fue lo que hizo. Del cacahuete llegó a extraer más de 300 productos. Muchos de ellos alimenticios, como aceite, harina y queso, y otros tantos industriales, como tintes, jabones y plásticos. No conforme con eso, de la papa extrajo unos 100 productos, tales como pegamento y caucho sintético, y del aceite de soya obtuvo pinturas con las que pintó varios cuadros altamente reconocidos y premiados.
Pero, cuanto tiempo necesitó este científico de origen africano para lograr todos estos descubrimientos inspirado en un simple cacahuate? Muchos, pero muchos años, acompañados de sufrimiento y fracasos, pero sobretodo de persistencia. Parece que esa es una de las caracteristicas que más ama Dios en nuestra vida. La Persistencia.
Más vale ser persistente que valiente;
más vale dominarse a sí mismo que conquistar ciudades.
Proverbios 16:32
Dios no busca gente perfecta, Dios perfecciona al que busca. Pero para lograr lo que nos proponemos, Dios quiere nuestro esfuerzo, nuestro interés por lograrlo. El no se comporta como un genio que cumple deseos sin el menor esfuerzo. Pero sí nos guía y nos ilumina el camino para llegar a nuestras metas.
Yo soy la luz del mundo; el que me sigue, no andará en tinieblas, sino que tendrá la luz de la vida.

La Biblia muestra grandes victorias logradas por los hijos de Dios. Pero todos estos logros necesitaron que ellos fueran persistentes más que valientes. Caleb esperó 45 años para recibir una tierra que le había sido heredada. El pueblo de Israel demoró 40 años para llegar a su tierra prometida. Siete días debió esperar todo un ejército para que las murallas de Jericó fueran derribaras. Y que decir de Abraham, quien tuvo que cumplir 99 años para ser padre.
Luche por sus sueños, no se rinda ante la adversidad, no se de por vencido, porque Dios le dará la victoria. Eso sí, siempre bajo la obediencia a nuestro Padre del cielo. Porque así lo dice su promesa.
Santiago 1:25Mas el que mira atentamente en la perfecta ley, la de la libertad, y persevera en ella, no siendo oidor olvidadizo, sino hacedor de la obra, éste será bienaventurado en lo que hace.
