Our Story

In the Summer of 2005, God was working in the hearts and minds of the leadership of Family Bible Church at the corner of Branham and Cherry in South San Jose.  They were praying as to how they could step out on faith to see the Kingdom of God grow. Through prayer and honest soul searching, God gave them AND their congregation the courage to make a bold move forward. They began looking for a like minded church they could partner up with in ministry, using the facilities and resources of FBC to do a NEW work in South San Jose. In October of 2005, their elders began to talk with the elders of Valley Church in Cupertino and in March of 2006, FBC members voted to come under the leadership and authority of Valley Church.

God clearly brought these two “parent” churches together! During the hot summer months of 2006, people from both churches began meeting to pray in a clubhouse in a nearby home. As the old building was undergoing a major make-over, we were dreaming, planning and praying about what a new church could look like.

On November 5th, 2006, Neighborhood Bible Church had our first public service. God brought people from different backgrounds together to do a “new thing” in our community.  We continued to meet every Sunday at 10:30am. In September of 2012, we launched a second service, and in October of 2015, we launched a third service, which is entirely held in Spanish. We’ve been meeting at 9am, 10:45am, and 12:30pm every Sunday since then.

"Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the desert and streams in the wasteland."
Isaiah 43:18-19

Since the Fall of 2006, God has faithfully been growing in our lives a greater love and appreciation for His glory. At the start of 2008, intern elders joined the leadership already in place and in January 2009, they were brought on as full blown elders to help shepherd this community of believers.

We look forward to growing together as we share with our neighborhood the great blessings God is pouring out on us. Come be a part of our future!
