Personal Reflection
1. What kind of persecution have you suffered for Jesus? What has this produced in you?
2. Are you on a “Rough Road” right now? Stop and reflect what is going on. Ask for God to give you his insight to your circumstances and to steer your responses.

Group Discussion
3. Re-read the text from this week. What is a key take-away you had from Sunday?
4. What does it mean to “desire to live a godly life in Christ Jesus” (v 12)? How does this play out in your life?
5. Pain is common to all people, persecution is promised for all Christians. What does this mean to you right now?
6. Godless people will go from bad to worse (v 13). Where do you see this? How are you responding?
7. How does pain and hardship go hand in hand with the more pleasant parts of discipleship? What happens if we hide from the hard?
