Our Philosophy | Our Classes | Our Memory Verses

Parents (after God) are the most important influence in a child’s spiritual and physical life (Luke 1:17, Malachi 4:6, Deut 6:4-9). Furthermore, children are precious and valuable to God (Luke 18:15-17, Psalm 127:3-5). As such, One Way exists to bring Worship, Community, and Share into the lives of the families and children of NBC. Our philosophy of ministry is detailed here.

Sunday mornings at One Way are a small but important part of a child’s spiritual development. Even though age groups are separated (2s - preK, K - 2nd grade, 3rd - 5th grade), every class will cover the same Bible story at different levels of depth in a creative, fun, and engaging way. Every Old Testament story that is covered points to Jesus Christ, and every New Testament story points to the Cross.

Parents play a key role in this ministry. The clear model in Scripture is that families, under the headship of the father, are to be training up their children. NBC has a co-op approach to coming together, serving together where all participants in this ministry contribute to carrying out the work of the ministry. All parents whose children participate in and are shepherded through One Way Family Ministry contribute to sharing and spreading the responsibilities through this co-op approach.

Parents are encouraged to dig deeper and engage in spiritual discipleship with their children at home. To this end, we provide a free tool to help dig in – a devotional tool is given to every family at NBC. It explores the Bible story in more depth in a home environment. More information about our curriculum and which Bible story we are covering on a given week can be found here. Of course, if parents desire for a different strategy to their child’s spiritual growth, such a decision is celebrated! The goal is not necessarily for all NBC families to do the same thing, but rather for our NBC families to raise disciples – and that approach may vary from home to home.

Knowing that God’s Word is one of the few things in this world that will last forever, we also encourage children and families to engage in Scripture memory, learning a new verse or passage each month. More information on the verses for our past, current, and upcoming months can be found here.

We look forward to helping in any way we can – and having a great time while we strive to follow hard after Jesus! For any questions, please catch or email Ben. And we are always looking for Christ & child loving teachers and helpers!
