Questions for the Community

Personal Reflection

  1. Read Proverbs 3:5-6 and think about the direction of your life today. Are you on the right track? What choice is in your hands right now?
  2. When you can’t see how life is working out, what is your “go to” for comfort, explanation, reassurance, direction?

Group Discussion

  1. Share a key fork in the road (or train track!) that has impacted where you are in life. How was God working?
  2. How much of the plan do you think Philip had as he obeyed God’s commands. Did he have a choice in what he did? What helped him obey?
  3. Philip’s example reveals 5 qualities to cultivate. Review what those are and then ponder how or if these are present in your life. Share you findings.
  4. Review the 6 traits of this true convert. What impacts you? (i.e. Do any of these line up with your story? Are there any that are missing but might be needed? Do you watch for these?)
  5. Have you obeyed the command to be baptized?

Plan of Action

  1. Compare Simon and this Ethiopian in your mind and by looking back over the chapter. Is there a Simon or Ethiopian in your life? Make yourself available to keep sharing the Gospel in spite of how it is responded to.
  2. Pray! Pray some more. Bring God to the front of your mind for people all around you. See them as God does. Pray for and respond to openings into their lives. Walk in love toward all.
