Believe:  A Series in John

Maybe your Storm has made Landfall?

John 6:15-21

What is your greatest fear, struggle, battle, obstacle, or problem ?

What is the category of your storm on a scale of 1 to 5?

Maybe Jesus drafted us into His discipleship school?

“Immediately afterward He compelled the disciples to get into the boat and to go ahead of Him to the other side, while He sent the crowds away” Matt. 14:22

  • Storms are not random James 1:2-4
  • Nor trivial Psalm 119:67
  • Nor optional 5:3-5
  • Purposeful Job 23:10
  • Performed in love 119:175

Jesus is the Orchestrator of Storms

Maybe absolute surrender is our Master’s end game?

“When Jesus got into the boat, His disciples followed Him. And behold, a violent storm developed on the sea, so that the boat was being covered by the waves; but Jesus Himself was asleep. And they came to Him and woke Him, saying, “Save us, Lord; we are perishing!”

Matt. 8:23-25

Jesus the Calmer of Storms

Maybe Jesus is who He says He is?

“But He said to them, “It is I; do not be afraid.” So, they were willing to take Him into the boat, and immediately the boat was at the land to which they were going” John 6:20

Jesus is the Deliver from Fear

Maybe God’s power and character is displayed in our weakness?

“But seeing the wind, he became frightened, and when he began to sink, he cried out, saying, “Lord, save me!” Immediately Jesus reached out with His hand and took hold of him, and said to him, “You of little faith, why did you doubt?” When they got into the boat, the wind stopped. And those who were in the boat worshiped Him, saying, “You are truly God’s Son!”

Matt. 14:30-33; 2 Cor. 12:7-10

Jesus is the Finisher of Faith

Maybe we only have one life to live and one chance to die?

“So, they were willing to take Him into the boat, and immediately the boat was at the land to which they were going” John 6:21

  • “Missionary life is simply, a chance to die.” Amy Carmichael
