Questions for the Community

Devoted to Learning

  1. Read Matthew 16:13-17 out loud. Why is Jesus asking questions? What stirs you from this text?
  2. Where do people commonly look for their identity? What occurs when we look to anything other than God for our identity?
  3. What lies are being promoted and where are they coming from? What are the results of living out of these deceptions?
  4. Consider all the NEW God gives (2 Cor. 5:17; Gal. 2:20; Rev. 21:5). How are we supposed to take hold of this and live this out? What part is God’s to give and what part is ours to cooperate with his working?

Devoted to one another

  1. How does your own newness affect those around you? (Rom. 6:4)
  2. Remind one another that the cross is evidence of restoration (all that is sad will come untrue). Encourage one another that God doesn’t throw away and start over but redeems.

Devoted to praying

  1. Pray for the new you want to see in you. Thank God for the realities that are already yours in Christ. (1 Cor. 1: 30; 2:16; 2 Tim. 2:1; Col. 2.3)
  2. Ask God to show you how and where He is working and the ways you are to cooperate with his restorative work in you. (Heb. 13:20-21)
