White for Harvest | Blancos Para La Siega
You know how sometimes, when you pray for something, God puts the very thing you’ve been praying for right in front of you? Like when you’re praying to find something you lost, and right after you say amen, it’s right in front of you. Or when you ask for a job and you get hired the next day.
But usually, God doesn’t just give us what we ask for. Rather, He gives us an opportunity to grow in what we’re asking. Have you ever prayed for patience and then found that you continually wind up in the longest line or have to deal with unexpected traffic or have a really difficult interaction with someone you love? God is giving you opportunities to grow in patience.
I pray often for my friends to come to Jesus. Recently, I’ve been noticing that I’ve had more and more opportunities to share my faith with others. God is putting the very thing I’ve been asking for right in front of me! I got to lead my friend, a former atheist, to Jesus. I was hanging out with another friend, not a Christian, and HE brought up the topic of the end times! John 4:35 is true to me in a fresh way, “Do you not say, ‘There are yet four months, then comes the harvest’? Look, I tell you, lift up your eyes, and see that the fields are white for harvest.”
I am sad to say, though, that I have certainly passed on opportunities that were right in front of me. When I was in college, I was writing and recording music. One of my non-Christian friends asked me what my songs were about. Every song I wrote was about my faith. This was a great opportunity to share with her. But I just told her that my songs were about “life and stuff.” I still think about that interaction to this day. I missed it.
I believe that right now, more than ever, the fields are white for harvest. NOW is the time to have that conversation with your friend or family member that doesn’t know Jesus. Look for those opportunities. Don’t miss them. God has removed a lot of the distractions of life so that we can focus on what’s important. Share that with those that need to hear! It’s harvest time!
¿Sabes cómo, a veces, cuando oras por algo, Dios pone justo frente a ti aquello por lo que has estado orando? Como cuando estás orando para encontrar algo que perdiste, y justo después de decir amén, está justo frente a ti. O cuando pides un trabajo y te contratan al día siguiente.
Pero, por lo general, Dios no solo nos da lo que pedimos. Más bien, nos da la oportunidad de crecer en lo que pedimos. ¿Alguna vez has orado pidiendo paciencia y luego te das cuenta de que continuamente terminas en la fila más larga o tienes que lidiar con un tráfico inesperado o tienes una interacción realmente difícil con alguien que amas? Dios te está dando oportunidades para crecer en la paciencia.
Oro a menudo para que mis amigos vengan a Jesús. Recientemente, he notado que cada vez he tenido más oportunidades de compartir mi fe con los demás. ¡Dios está poniendo justo enfrente de mí lo que he estado pidiendo! Llegué a llevar a mi amigo, un ex ateo, a Jesús. Estaba saliendo con otro amigo, no cristiano, ¡y el trajo el tema del fin de los tiempos! Juan 4:35 me es fiel de una manera fresca: “¿No decís vosotros: Aún faltan cuatro meses para que llegue la siega? He aquí os digo: Alzad vuestros ojos y mirad los campos, porque ya están blancos para la siega.”.
Sin embargo, me entristece decir que ciertamente he dejado pasar oportunidades que estaban justo frente a mí. Cuando estaba en la universidad, escribía y grababa música. Uno de mis amigos no cristianos me preguntó de qué trataban mis canciones. Cada canción que escribí fue sobre mi fe. Esta fue una gran oportunidad para compartir con ella. Pero le dije que mis canciones eran sobre “la vida y esas cosas”. Todavía pienso en esa interacción hasta el día de hoy. Me lo perdi.
Creo que ahora mismo, más que nunca, los campos están blancos para la siega. AHORA es el momento de tener esa conversación con su amigo o familiar que no conoce a Jesús. Busque esas oportunidades. No se los pierda. Dios ha eliminado muchas de las distracciones de la vida para que podamos enfocarnos en lo que es importante. ¡Comparta eso con aquellos que necesitan escuchar! ¡Es tiempo de cosecha!
