I’m All In | Pongo todas mis fichas adentro
I believe that there have been no braver men then the early Christians — those who made up the early church. Put yourself in their sandals for a moment, being a part of this church meant giving everything up. It was not a simple decision of coming to the altar or going to a membership class, no, it was a decision that included the possibility of losing even their own lives or the lives of their families. They would surely have heard the stories of friends or acquaintances who suffered great persecution for joining this church and ended up on a cross or in a hole in the midst of lions. They knew beforehand that to join this church they would have to at least move to other cities and start from zero, leaving behind families, friends, jobs and everything that was familiar to them, but nevertheless that did not matter to them, their conviction and faith were greater, they decided to drop everything and said “I’m all in.”
Do you remember that moment when you decided to be a part of this church? I don’t mean NBC in particular, I mean when you made the decision to believe in Jesus as your savior and now be a Christian? It probably did not mean putting your life at risk or moving to another city or the possibility of losing absolutely everything like those first believers. I’d even dare to say that some of us did not even fully understand what that decision implied, but nevertheless by God’s grace and mercy he allowed us to understand it as we took our first steps as his children.
The truth is that when I think of that early church, I realize the enormous sacrifice they made and how they managed to understand that there is nothing more important that a person can have than God himself … for them it was not a religion, it was their everything. Although today we do not have to face the same persecution or leave everything behind, I know that there are moments in our lives where the same principle applies — where we have to make a decision and say that our God is above all and that nothing else matters if we have Him.
In every situation of your life, always seek God, entrust everything to God and have faith in him, and if necessary, let’s learn to say as our brothers did, “I’m all in” and to know that the most important thing is to have God above all that we can ever do or have and as we do this remember that this is the faith that most pleases God.
Creo que no ha habido hombres más valientes que los primeros cristianos, aquellos que conformaban la iglesia primitiva. Ponte en sus sandalias por un momento, el aceptar formar parte de esta iglesia significaba entregarlo todo, no se trataba de una simple decisión de altar o de ir a una clase de membresía, no, era una decisión que incluía la posibilidad de perder hasta sus propias vidas o la de sus familias, de seguro habrían escuchado las historias de amigos o conocidos que sufrieron de gran persecución por haberse unido a esta iglesia y que terminaban en una cruz o en un espectáculo en medio de leones, y de antemano sabían que al unirse a esta iglesia tendrían que como mínimo moverse a otras ciudades y empezar desde cero, dejando atrás familias, amigos, trabajos y todo lo que les era familiar, mas sin embargo eso no les importaba, era mas grande su convicción y su fe que decidían dejarlo todo y decir “Pongo todas mis fichas adentro”
Recuerdas ese momento que decidiste formar parte de esta iglesia, no me refiero a NBC en particular, me refiero cuando tomaste la decisión de creer en Jesús como tu salvador y ahora ser un cristiano. Muy probablemente no implico poner en riesgo tu vida, ni moverte de ciudad ni la posibilidad de perderlo absolutamente todo como aquellos primeros creyentes, es mas me atrevo a decir que a algunos ni siquiera llegaron a entender plenamente lo que esa decisión implicaba, mas sin embargo por la gracia y misericordia de Dios nos lo permitió entender mientras dábamos nuestros primeros pasos como sus hijos.
Lo cierto es que cuando pienso en esa iglesia primitiva, me doy cuenta el enorme sacrificio que hicieron y como ellos lograron entender que no hay nada mas importante que una persona pueda tener que Dios mismo… para ellos no fue una religión, fue su todo. Aunque hoy no tengamos que afrontar la misma persecución o dejarlo todo, se que llegan momentos a nuestras vidas donde el mismo principio aplica… donde tengamos que tomar una decisión y decir que por encima de todo esta nuestro Dios y que no importa nada mas si lo tenemos a el.
En toda situación de tu vida, busca siempre de Dios, confíale todo a Dios y ten fe en el, y si es necesario aprendamos a decir como nuestros hermanos lo hicieron, “Pongo todas mis fichas adentro” y que lo mas importe sea tener a Dios por encima de todo lo que nosotros podamos hacer o llegar a tener pues esa es la fe que mas agrada a Dios.
